As a band we do like to do the odd song. This one was originally written for a cabaret all about coffee and features the amazing Clare Quinn on vocals.
lyrics
Song for a wasted afternoon
Time's moving so slowly
The second hand creeps towards twelve
Those like me gaze covertly
Here from my chair inside the cafe
First sip the coffee's seductive
First glance, leaves me uncertain
Did our eyes meet? I put my cup down
Through the window
The sun casts shadows
Dark silhouettes of passer-byes
I'm shirking
While others are working
Pain au chocolate clasped in my hand.
First bite, the texture is perfect
First taste, temptation was worth it
Did you just smile? I put my cup
Down, down, down, down
The second hand spins around
Round, round, round, round
My hearts speeds up
while time slows down
Cool breeze slips
Through the doorway
Languorously it brushes my skin
Long and lazy warm seduction
The atmosphere's sweet with the promise of more
We brush, the movement's deliberate
You blush, Shyness is charming
Did we just kiss? I'll put my cup down
Time's frozen
This moment's forever
A warm photograph locked in my mind
Smooth chocolate
Sweet moments
Linger between us, inside the cafe
Outside, the day has a sparkle
Inside, the world is remarkable
Was it all real? I'll put my cup
Down, down, down, down
The second hand spins around
Round, round, round, round
My hearts speeds up
while time slows down
